Kathmandu BernHardt Secondary School & College Celebrates 26th Anniversary, Enters 27th Year

Kathmandu BernHardt

Kathmandu BernHardt Secondary School, a prestigious educational institution located in Balkhu, has grandly celebrated its 26th anniversary as it enters its 27th year of operation. Established on June 28, 2000 (Asar 14, 2057 BS), BernHardt organized a special ceremony on Sunday to highlight its 26-year journey, achievements, and future plans.

The event was jointly inaugurated by the school’s Chairman, Bhupesh Chhatkuli, alongside faculty members by lighting a traditional oil lamp (Panas). In line with the institution’s tradition of honoring long-serving staff, Giriraj Mani Niraula, Head of the Nepali Department, was specially felicitated this year for completing 10 years of dedicated service. The event saw a large turnout of teachers, staff, and management representatives.

A Smoother Academic Transition This Year

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Chhatkuli shared that this year’s anniversary felt uniquely different and encouraging compared to previous years. He recalled that in the past, the SEE (Secondary Education Examination) results would usually be pending around the anniversary date, leaving a sense of anxiety regarding student admissions and academic planning. However, he noted that circumstances were much smoother this year.

“Every year during our anniversary, the SEE results would still be awaited, creating uncertainty about student enrollment. But this year, the results were released on time, and despite a challenging environment, the Grade 11 admission process has concluded satisfactorily,” Chairman Chhatkuli said.

From a Shared Dream to a National Leader

Similarly, the school’s Principal, Purushottam Bista, expressed his delight at how Kathmandu BernHardt—which started from the shared dream and firm resolve of just five teachers—has successfully grown into one of the country’s leading and well-established educational institutions. He reminded the audience that in response to changing times, the institution has expanded its academic scope to successfully run Plus Two (+2) programs as well as university-level courses like BBS.

Principal Bista proudly recalled the institution’s glorious history, highlighting that Kathmandu BernHardt secured the Nepal Board First position in the BBS program back in 2008 (2065 BS). He credited the continuous progress of the institution to the vital role played by all teachers and staff.

Key Milestone: This year, 880 students have enrolled in Grade 11.

The Collective Effort: “This success does not belong to a single individual; it is the result of the hard work of the entire Bernhardt family,” Principal Bista stated. “Moving forward, it is the responsibility of all of us to maintain this dedication and quality to deliver even more excellent results.”

A Legacy of Practical Education

Having established itself among top-tier educational institutions within a short span of time, Kathmandu Bernhardt has consistently delivered outstanding academic results.

To ensure that education can be applied to real life, the school has adopted a practice-based learning methodology. Engaging students in practical exercises related to their curriculum remains one of Kathmandu Bernhardt’s defining strengths.
